Sound of Silence is an online exhibition of silence collected by UK based artist Steve Chapman over the period of two and half years. The project started life as a podcast in which Chapman broadcast a weekly episode of silence recorded face to face with a special guest. A total of 100 episodes were recorded with guests including artists, comedians, broadcasters, authors, dancers, singers, humanitarians, entrepreneurs, Buddhists monks, a dog and many more.
Steve specialises in conceptual art projects that look to challenge the norms of society by doing the opposite of normal.
He is currently working on the creation of a touring, immersive exhibition of silence that he hopes to bring to galleries around the UK and beyond. He is also writing a book about the many adventures he had whilst recording.
You can find more of Steve’s work including artwork, blogs, articles and talks at www.canscorpionssmoke.com
